New Hanover County couple arrested on human trafficking charges

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) -
A man and woman in New Hanover County were charged Friday with several counts of child abuse as well as human trafficking.
According to the New Hanover County jail, Michael, 35, and Cheyenne Kupper, 33, were each given a $1 million bond.
Michael faces seven counts of child abuse/neglect serious bodily injury and one count of human trafficking of an adult victim. Cheyenne faces six counts of child abuse/neglect serious bodily injury and one count of human trafficking of an adult victim.
They are expected to make their first court appearance June 13.
